Observed on May 4, Firefighters Memorial Day holds significant importance for both serving and retired firefighters.

This day pays homage to the sacrifice of firefighters who have bravely lost their lives in the line of duty, recognizing the unwavering courage and dedication displayed by generations of firefighters, including those currently serving our communities. Firefighters mark the occasion by standing outside their stations at midday, observing a minute of silence. Additionally, a wreath-laying ceremony occurs at the National Firefighters Memorial near St Paul's Cathedral, featuring representatives from the FBU (Fire Brigades Union) and the Firefighters Memorial Trust.
