LGBT pride, also referred to as gay pride or simply pride, advocates for the self-affirmation, dignity, equality, and enhanced visibility of individuals within the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community. This positive stance of pride, in contrast to feelings of shame and societal stigma, serves as a foundational perspective for the majority of LGBT rights movements. The term "pride" has become synonymous with various LGBT-themed entities, including organizations, institutes, foundations, book titles, periodicals, a cable TV channel, and the Pride Library.
