Every year, on the first Sunday of October, we mark International Blessings of The Fishing Fleet Day. This tradition revolves around blessing the fishing fleet just before the start of the fishing season. Communities come together to pray for a productive season and the safe return of all crew members. In some fishing communities, individuals also seek blessings for their rock lobster pots from local clergy in private ceremonies.
