August 27th marks International Boxing Day, first established in 2017 in Russia under the initiative of Umar Kremlev, who served as the Secretary General of the Russian Boxing Federation. In 2021, the International Boxing Association decided to reschedule the event from July to August. This change aligned with the commemoration of the first edition of the IBA World Championships, which took place in Havana, Cuba, in 1974.
