The United Nations designated June 21 as the International Day of the Celebration of the Solstice. Solstices, along with equinoxes, are intricately linked to seasons, harvests, and livelihoods. Consequently, numerous cultures commemorate a variety of combinations of solstices, equinoxes, and the midpoints between them, leading to the emergence of diverse holidays centered around these events. Recognizing that solstices and equinoxes symbolize the fertility of the land, agricultural and food production systems, cultural heritage, and millennial traditions, the General Assembly of the United Nations acknowledged that celebrating these events embodies the unity of cultural heritage and centuries-old traditions. The solstice serves as a representation of the unity found in cultural heritage and long-standing traditions.
