Annually observed on June 15th, International Working Animal Day was established by the animal charity SPANA (Society For The Protection Of Animals Abroad) in 2016. This day serves to shed light on the vital contributions of working animals in developing countries.

In its sixth edition in 2021, SPANA's International Working Animal Day focused on raising awareness about the role of working animals in tasks such as transporting water and producing food. The following year, the seventh edition in 2022 continued to spotlight the crucial role working animals play in the daily lives of people.
