Additionally, the day commemorates the tragic death of Catherine (Kitty) Genovese, who lost her life near her home in New York. It is believed that Kitty might have survived if others had intervened during the attack. On this day, we are prompted to embrace the principle of being our brother's keeper in all circumstances.
