Since its inception in 2014, the participation rate has consistently risen each year, with 400,000 people signing up for the 2020 campaign alone. The campaign approximated that this number equated to the carbon dioxide equivalent of 450,000 flights and the preservation of over a million animal lives. The term "Veganuary" can also refer to the event as a whole.
