World Penguin Day

World Penguin Day, celebrated on April 25, is dedicated to raising awareness about these flightless birds, with the goal of preserving their species for the enjoyment of future generations. This observance aligns with the annual northern migration of Adélie penguins, a natural pattern that has been passed down through generations. Antarctica is home to eight penguin species, with many of them exhibiting monogamous behavior and unique calls that aid in locating their mates within large groups. While most species typically lay up to two eggs in a season, the King and Emperor penguins lay just one. Despite their fascinating characteristics, it is concerning that among the 18 known living species, 10 are currently classified as endangered.
